It was no surprise that the long-awaited movie Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens managed to break a whole host of records, going on to become one of the biggest movies of all time, despite some complaints from fans of the franchise. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact these negative comments will have on the next instalment of the franchise, which will begin shooting in the very near future.
Actor Adam Driver played the role of the villain Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and will reprise his role for Star Wars: Episode VIII. Adam has now opened up about the next instalment of the Star Wars movie franchise, admitting that he is very excited about getting back into the role of the Star Wars villain.
Driver was chatting about the difference between J.J. Abrams and new director Rian Johnson, when he explained, "Their temperaments are different. I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was."
The actor added, "There’s a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it’s more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own]. I can’t wait to get on set, just because he’s so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they’ve come up with is really great."
Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to hit the big screen on December 15, 2017 in both the US and the UK.
