From the moment that Scarlett Johansson made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow, there has been a lot of talk about the actress potentially getting her own standalone movie, rather than just appearing in everyone else's films. Until now though, that Black Widow solo movie has yet to happen and does not look like happening any time soon.
For years now, not only the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also plenty of those involved in the franchise have been calling for a Black Widow film to happen and, while there is constant talk about it, nothing has been pushed forward. Marvel have already given us their plan of movies for the next few years, which does not include a Black Widow movie.
Scarlett Johansson has clearly become a fans favourite with the comic book movie fans, thanks to her performances as Black Widow and, following a recent poll, it was revealed that the fans are still very eager to see the Black Widow movie happen. If it was to take place, it would not be for another five years at least, by which time we would expect that Scarlett would have had enough of the role.
Meanwhile, it seems that Marvel are going to change the direction of their universe following Avengers: Infinity War, focusing more on the newer characters coming through and slowly doing away with the regulars we have come to love. We doubt that we will ever get to see Scarlett Johansson in a Black Widow solo film but we hope we are proved wrong.
