It seems that pretty much every actor or actress in the industry these days is hoping to land a role in a comic book movie, whether it be playing one of the big superhero roles or simply just playing one of the more human roles in the projects. However, it also appears that there are some people who have already landed roles in these big movies, who did not initially like the character they had been offered.
Former wrestling superstar Dave Bautista has been pretty impressive in the role of Drax for the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, firmly establishing himself as a fans favourite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that said though, it seems that Dave did not initially like the character that had been presented to him, before being talked around and now loving every second of becoming Drax.
Bautista said, "I was excited about the script, [but] when I first read the script, I wasn't crazy about my part. It went a different direction than what I thought they were going to go with Drax. That's just because I was expecting one thing and got another. So I was a little bit thrown off at first."
He added, "Also, what I usually do when I get a script is I read my dialogue first, I just didn't really get the jokes. I just didn't think Drax was that significant in the film, and I don't find myself funny at all. So I remember reading, and I'm just sitting there not laughing. Like, wow, it was disappointing because I thought Drax was going to be so much more."
We are so glad that Dave Bautista was brought around to the idea as he is perfect as Drax and has some of the best lines in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
