One of our favourite things of the year would have to be the awards season, which is well under way now and, following the Golden Globes earlier in the month, the focus has now turned to the 2015 Oscars. Last week we were given the official nominations for the Oscars 2015 and it looks like we are going to get a lot of interesting battles in all categories, including a lot of British stars up for various awards.
One actor who has been nominated for an Oscar this year, is the brilliant British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who is up for the Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar for his performance in the movie The Imitation Game. Benedict has enjoyed a steady rise in the acting industry over the past few years but he has now become a huge Hollywood superstar who fans simply cannot seem to get enough of, at the moment.
Being nominated for a 2015 Oscar shows just how far Benedict Cumberbatch has come and shows just how popular the actor has become and if he was to go on and win the Oscar for the Best Actor in a Leading Role, it would definitely put Benedict up there among the Hollywood greats. All this and he has not even started working on his biggest role to date, playing Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It is not a guarantee that Benedict Cumberbatch will walk away with an Oscar in his hands though, as he does face very stiff competition from a very tough category. Benedict will go head to head with Eddie Redmayne, for his role in The Theory of Everything, Michael Keaton for Birdman, Bradley Cooper for American Sniper, and Steve Carell for Foxcatcher. Who do you think will win the Best Actor Oscar??
The 87th Academy Awards, which is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is set to take place on February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
